Yoon Suk Yeol, the president of South Korea, has declared martial law.

In an unannounced late-night TV address, Yoon accused the country’s main opposition party of sympathizing with North Korea and anti-state activities.

According to the Associated Press, Yoon vowed to “eradicate pro-North Korean forces and protect the constitutional democratic order.”
